Eric Trezevant's model sugar mill

Eric Trezevant was born in Fiji and began an engineering apprecenticeship at Penang Sugar Mill. He worked his way up and served in various positions at the different Sugar Mills in Fiji including Second Engineer for FSC Rarawai prior to emigrating to Australia. Eric worked in Australia for a number of years before retiring in recent years. He lives in Abbotsbury, Fairfield, Sydney.During his spare time he has constructed a model sugar mill using his home workshop and lathe. It was built in July 2004. The model actually works! This page features some pictures of the model sugar mill with some specifications kindly provided by Eric.

Eric Trezevant and his model sugar mill This picture shows the shredder and 3 mills with:
  • Bagasse conveyors
  • Steam boiler
  • Drive steam engines
The shredder is fitted with hammers and anvil bars. The rollers are grooved and fitted with trash bar, scraper and delivery plates and pressure finger plates. The Bagasse conveyors are driven by geared electrical motors. The mills are driven by steam engines through mill gearing. The steam engines run on steam or compressed air 50-60psi.
